Career counsellor Jayprakash Gandhi previously explained that institutions likely to succeed in the future will combine traditional engineering education with emerging technologies.

His advice is especially important for students in India.

Instead of blindly choosing AI degrees simply because they sound trendy, students should first build strong Computer Science or engineering fundamentals and then combine them with specialized modern skills.

This could include combinations such as CS with Healthcare Technology, Finance, Defence Systems, Manufacturing Automation, Agriculture Technology, or Education Technology.

This hybrid approach may create stronger long-term career opportunities than chasing trendy labels alone.


Should Students Still Choose Computer Science?

Yes — especially if they genuinely enjoy technology and problem-solving.

No career path guarantees success anymore, including CS. However, for students who enjoy building things and continuously learning new skills, Computer Science still remains a powerful option.

Students choosing CS only for salary may find the path more difficult now.

Earlier, booming demand allowed many average candidates to secure jobs easily. In the future, entry-level opportunities may become more competitive, while highly skilled candidates may continue to perform extremely well.

Students entering CS today need a smarter and more focused approach.

They should strengthen fundamentals like data structures, databases, computer networks, and operating systems.

The Real Future of Computer Science
